The release of the WRI/WBCSD Greenhouse Gas Protocol for Product Accounting & Reporting Standard in October 2011 will be a significant moment for product carbon footprinting.  This standard has built on previous global initiatives and will move carbon life cycle measurement into a more mainstream arena, especially as the standard was developed in the United States.

Once published Aura will be implementing changes to its barefoot tools and models to allow clients to measure to the WRI/WBCSD Standard, as well as to the PAS 2050.  With ISO 14067 due to be released in 2012 we are moving quickly towards a world where carbon life cycle assessment is becoming increasingly more important to the consumer and the supply chain.
